Tura, Nov 19: Dr. Natasha R. Marak, Associate Professor in the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at the College of Community Science, Central Agricultural University (CAU), Tura, has brought international attention to Meghalaya’s work in sustainable nutrition with a successful presentation at the 5th World Congress on Primary and Global Healthcare held in Paris from November 17–18.
Presenting her paper titled “Nourishing the Future: Sustainable Diets for a Healthier You and a Healthier Planet,” Dr. Marak stressed the urgent need to align dietary choices with global health and environmental goals. Her presentation highlighted how traditional food systems, locally available nutrient-dense ingredients, and evidence-based nutrition interventions can play a central role in combating modern health challenges.
The global congress gathered researchers, academicians, policymakers, and healthcare professionals from around the world. This year’s edition featured 82 presentations from multiple countries, covering breakthroughs and innovations in primary healthcare, public health systems, and community nutrition.
Dr. Marak’s participation not only showcased India’s growing contribution to sustainable health research but also positioned Meghalaya as an emerging voice in global discussions on food systems and nutrition. Her work reflects the College of Community Science, CAU Tura’s commitment to promoting academic excellence and advancing solutions that link community wellbeing with planetary health.
