CBI to investigate deaths of Rosy Sangma and Samuel Sangma

Shillong, July 13: Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to investigate the mysterious deaths of Rosy Sangma and Samuel Sangma, which occurred in Gurugram in June last month.

Several organizations and leaders had written to PM Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah to investigate the deaths of the two Garo youth from Dimapur, Nagaland. Of the many notable leaders that wrote to the centre, Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik had written to Union Home Minister, Amit Shah for his intervention into the mysterious deaths of the two youth which has sparked outrage in the whole north eastern region. Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma had also written to his counterparts Chief Minister of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar to inquire into the deaths of the two youth. Others include Tura MP, Agatha Sangma, former Chief Minister Mukul Sangma among others.

The death of Rosy Sangma and Samuel Sangma, two Garos from Nagaland’s Dimapur, under mysterious circumstances has led to resentment in the north eastern region. Rosy Sangma died in the ALFAA Hospital, Gurugram, Haryana on June 24, 2021 after consuming ice-cream given to her by hospital staff while she was in ICU. A viral video posted by Late Samuel Sangma had claimed that his aunt Late Rosy was recovering and suddenly died after eating the ice cream.

Reportedly, the hospital staff assaulted Samuel when he confronted them for giving ice-cream to his aunt in the ICU, and not allowing him to see her thereafter. Following which he was found hanging from ceiling of the hotel he was staying at Safdarjung Enclave next day i.e. on June 25, 2021.

Samuel’s father said his son’s body had assault marks all over and a broken tooth. He claims that his son was murdered and his sister-in-law (Rosy Sangma) died due to medical negligence.
