Delhi, Nov 18: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today called on several Union Ministers in the national capital to apprise about the different development and welfare programmes of the State.

He called on Union DoNER Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh seeking additional funds for completion of the prestigious Shillong International Centre for Performing Arts and Culture (SICPAC).

In a series of tweets, Conrad K Sangma informed on the outcomes of the meeting.

In his tweet, he informed that the Ministry of DoNER has been requested for sanctioning of remaining road projects under Northeast Road Sector Development Scheme (NERSDS), especially the Mawshynrut – Hahim road and Borkhat – Sonapur road.

The Chief Minister also called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman this afternoon in Delhi to seek her intervention on a quick appraisal of the externally aided projects including projects by the World Bank that are aimed to strengthen the health and tourism infrastructure in the State.

“Sought her (Nirmala Sitharaman) support to release the share of central taxes and the relaxation of the strict timelines for implementation of reforms and allow 1 percent tied borrowing in a flexible manner,” the Chief Minister informed in his tweet.

He had called on Union Jal Shakti Minister yesterday in Delhi and had sought his intervention for supporting river rejuvenation initiatives using best technology with minimum cost in Meghalaya.
