Coal mine explosion in Meghalaya: death toll hits 31

SHILLONG, FEB 11: The death toll in the coal mine explosion at Mynsyngat-Thangsko area of East Jaintia Hills District on February 5, has risen to 31. Ten others were injured in the incident.

A dynamite explosion occurred at the coal mine, prompting a rescue operation.

“The death toll has risen to 31 and 10 injured,” the Meghalaya State Disaster Management Authority said in a statement issued on Wednesday.
