NEHUSU vice president sustained injuries injured

Shillong, March 25: The celebration of Holi turned into a major upheaval at North Eastern Hills University (NEHUSU) on Monday, as a fight between members of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), and the Students Union of NEHU erupted.

The incident reportedly occurred around 12:30 PM on the university campus. The conflict escalated, resulting in NEHUSU Vice President Easterson Sohtun sustaining injuries and being taken to the hospital.

Sohtun, who later filed an FIR at Mawkynroh Outpost, informed that around two hundred RSS and ABVP members entered the campus with the intention of celebrating the Holi festival. However, they were stopped by NEHUSU members, citing university regulations prohibiting celebrations and political activities on campus.

In his FIR, the NEHUSU vice president alleged that three individuals, including Kamlesh Singh, Amit Tripathi, and Anubhav Pandey, had assaulted him.

A few hours after the incident was reported, RSS and ABVP members counter-alleged that the NEHUSU vice president had maliciously disrupted the Holi celebration.

ABVP state secretary Tengku M Marak stated that the allegations made by the NEHUSU vice president were untrue and inaccurate.

Marak asserted that Sohtun had bad intentions when he comes to forcefully stopped the Holi celebration at the NEHU campus. Marak went on to challenge Sohtun to provide evidence of the alleged assault, stating that no one from their side had assaulted him or anyone, he added.
