Conrad shuts down hypocritical parties, says ‘they cannot speak anything after Khanapara’

Must read

Shillong, May 1: In a scathing statement, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma called out political parties for their hypocritical behaviour. Campaigning for party candidate Samlin Malngiang in Sohiong constituency on Monday, Sangma highlighted the irony of these parties criticizing the government at the state level but turning to Delhi for assistance.

“…the same political parties will then go to Delhi and then urge Delhi that please give us this, please give us that. What kind of hypocrisy is this? You will make fun on one hand and on the other hand you will still demand,” Conrad said to the gathering.

Also, targeting the parties that are inciting masses by promoting ultra-regionalism, the NPP Chief pointed out that there are some political parties who continuously speak in a negative way and are unable to understand anything beyond Khanapara.

“But there are some people and some political parties who will continuously speak in such a negative way. And as I said, once they go beyond Khanapara, they will not be able to understand anything or able to speak anything,” he said without naming anyone.

Instead, he emphasized on the need for collaboration in today’s global world, urging people to work with others for the betterment of the state and its people.

“Let me tell you, friends, we must remember we are in a global world. The world is changing. We need to work and move with others. That does not mean that we are giving up on what we believe. That does not mean that we are looking at ourselves and putting ourselves down, no. But we believe in cooperating and working with others to take our state and take our people forward,” he reasoned.
