Containment measures in Garo Hills extended to August 9

Tura, Aug 1: West Garo Hills District Administration has once again extended its containment measures to August 9th to curb the continuing spread of the corona virus.

In the last two weeks, Garo Hills has been recording Covid deaths on almost daily basis and infection rates rising every passing day.

From July 24th to 30th, a span of just one week, Garo Hills recorded nine covid deaths.

On Saturday, a 63-year-old woman from Rangsakona area died from the infection at Tura civil hospital.

According to the order of the Deputy Commissioner, Ram Singh, weekdays, from Monday to Friday, will continue to follow the ongoing protocols of timely closure of stores, plying of vehicles with odd and even numbers on the given days and a daily corona curfew in Tura from 2 pm while other regions will have curfew timings from 5 pm on weekdays.

The weekends will continue to be in total closure under a corona curfew and inter district and inter-state movement will continue to fall under restrictions.
