Shillong, Nov 14: Minister incharge of the Cooperation department Comingone Ymbon on Tuesday inaugurated the 70th All India Cooperative Week celebration at Moosyiem Shangpung, West Jaintia Hills District on the theme, “ Role of Cooperative Marketing India a five trillion Dollar Economy and Sustainable Development Goals” organized by the office of the Cooperation Department, Government of Meghalaya Registrar in collaboration with the Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank Ltd and Rural Finance, Shillong and Meghalaya Livelihoods and Access to Markets Projects (Megha-LAMP)Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA)
The topic of the day was “Recent Development in Cooperatives.”
Addressing the gathering, Minister in Charge of the Cooperation Department, Comingone Ymbon highlighted the importance of strengthening the cooperative movement’s collective growth. He encouraged members to dedicate themselves to implementing government projects in a proper way, emphasising a shift towards entrepreneurship. He also urged parents and job-seeking youths to shift their focus from government jobs to fostering entrepreneurship.
Additionally, he reminded the gathering of the recently launched CM-Elevate, where interested entrepreneurs can apply for different schemes that would promote tourism, agriculture, entertainment, and other social sectors.
The minister also called on department officers to be courteous and provide proper guidance to visitors.
W. K. Kharbuli, Additional Deputy Commissioner, West Jaintia Hills, R. C. Sohkhlet IAS Registrar Cooperative Societies, Meghalaya Shillong, MD Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank, officials from the Cooperation Department, Megha-LAMP, MBMA, and Meghalaya Cooperative Apex Bank Ltd. were present.
