Tura, May 16: A cyclonic thunderstorm hit the Gambegre region of West Garo Hills on Tuesday morning, wreaking havoc on the area and causing significant damage to numerous houses, plantations, and infrastructure.


Although an official count of affected households and villages is yet to be determined, preliminary reports indicate that a considerable number of homes have been impacted by the cyclone.


The region experienced powerful winds that tore through the landscape, especially in the night, resulting in severe destruction to houses, agricultural fields, and various constructions.

The aftermath of the cyclone has led to the blockage of several roads due to fallen trees, making transportation difficult for residents. Additionally, the storm’s impact on the power infrastructure has resulted in widespread power outages across the affected area.
