Dhar inspects Varun Beverages Plant at Mendipathar

SHILLONG, MAR 5: The Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Industries Sniawbhalang Dhar on Thursday visited and inspected the bottling plant of Varun Beverages Limited located at Mendipathar in North Garo Hills District.

During the inspection, the Deputy Chief Minister expressed happiness and satisfaction over the establishment of the large-scale beverage production unit in the state.

The plant manufactures well-known products such as Pepsi, Mountain Dew, Slice and 7UP.

Dhar stated that the industry is expected to generate employment opportunities for around 400–500 people, which will greatly benefit the youth and local communities of the region.

He further highlighted that for the first time in the history of Meghalaya, such a large beverage manufacturing industry has been established in the state.

The plant is currently producing approximately two lakh bottles, which will not only cater to the local market but will also be supplied to other states, thereby strengthening Meghalaya’s industrial presence in the region.

The Deputy Chief Minister noted that the establishment of the plant is a significant step forward for industrial development in Meghalaya and reflects the government’s commitment to attracting investment, generating employment, and promoting economic growth across the state.
