Shillong, Oct 27: Police from the Mawlai Police Station on Monday detained five individuals suspected to be Bangladeshi nationals from the ISBT area in Mawlai.

According to the police, the detainees include three men and two women identified as Md. Alamgir Mia (25), Lelepa Begum (40), Musamat Jahana Khatoon (36), Md. Imammul Hassan (18) and Md. Fajid Bilal (47).

Following their detention, the police produced all five suspects before the court to initiate further legal proceedings.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances under which the group entered the state and verifying their immigration documents.
