Dibrugarh, Feb 24: The foundation stone for the Pemakoe Mindrolling Gonpa was laid on Tuesday by His Holiness the 9th Minling Khenchen Rinpoche at Tuting, near the Indo-China border in Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh.
The Rinpoche, accompanied by his entourage from the Mindroling Monastery in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, presided over the ceremony amid prayers and religious rituals. The proposed Gonpa is envisioned as a major spiritual centre in the frontier region.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, who were scheduled to attend the historic occasion, could not reach Tuting as their helicopter was unable to take off from Pasighat due to inclement weather.
Addressing the gathering, the Rinpoche described the upcoming Gonpa as a “dream project” and said it would remain open to people of all religions and faiths. He urged devotees to offer prayers with pure intentions and a clear mind.
He also expressed gratitude to the Government of Arunachal Pradesh and local MLA Alo Libang for their wholehearted support toward the construction of the Gonpa.
Among those present at the daylong religious ceremony were Arunachal Pradesh Food Commission Chairman Tarh Tarak, former ZPM Pema Lapchi, senior BJP leader Nima Sangey, and ADC Tuting Pandav Perme.
