Rongram, June 5: In a remarkable display of environmental commitment and community collaboration, the Green Tree Foundation (GTF), Garo Hills Division, successfully organised a tree plantation drive in the Rongram area today. A total of 170 tree saplings were planted as part of the initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and preserving the natural beauty of the Garo Hills.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from various local groups, including the Rongram village community, Mason Philips BSW students, the Rongram 2-stroke RX-100 bikers, and NGOs such as ASPF and AHAM. Together, these groups united under a common goal: to foster a greener, healthier future.

“This is more than just planting trees—it’s about planting hope for a cleaner, more sustainable tomorrow,” said Chekhan Rangsa Marak, leader of the Green Tree Foundation (GTF), Garo Hills Division. “By coming together as a community, we can make a real, lasting impact on our environment.”
The plantation drive is part of GTF’s ongoing environmental awareness campaign, encouraging local involvement and ecological responsibility. The organisation emphasised that such initiatives are crucial to combating climate change, restoring biodiversity, and ensuring a healthier planet for future generations.
The event concluded with a strong message: “Go green, save our planet.” The GTF and its partners remain committed to continuing their efforts to safeguard the Garo Hills’ natural heritage and inspire others to take meaningful action.
