Shillong, June 5: Leader of the Opposition, Dr. Mukul Sangma, has urged the Central Recruitment Board (CRB) of Meghalaya Police to take note of concerns raised by candidates regarding the recent police recruitment examination and take corrective steps.
Referring to the recruitment process advertised on March 6, 2024, Dr Sangma said, “The process must be declared null and void as far as the written examinations are concerned and candidates must be called to write the exams afresh.”
He stated that these concerns were based on feedback he received directly from candidates and observations shared on social media.

“Whenever an advertisement for recruitment is given, all the parameters required to be followed must be in sync with the set guidelines and the Meghalaya Police Act, 2010,” he said.
He cited Clause 18(10) of the general instructions, which states that “candidates will be summarily rejected at any stage for not conforming with the rules and guidelines and legal action will be initiated.”
Dr. Sangma observed that a recent release from the CRB appeared to contradict this clause and had generated public debate.
According to him, “the content of the press release had become a matter of debate, and narratives circulated are not pleasant to read, reflecting the doubt of the people of the State on the fairness of the process.”
