Shillong, June 5: The Achik State Peoples’ Front (ASPF) convened its 13th Winter Capital meeting at Mangsang Bamil Playground in East Garo Hills District on Wednesday.

The meeting was organized in collaboration with the Garo Students Uion (GSU) Mangsang Regional Unit and the FKJGP Mangsang Regional Unit.
Speaking during the meeting, ASPF general secretary emphasised the necessity of community unity to overcome challenges while advocating for the fulfillment of promises made by the state’s founder regarding the establishment of Tura as the second capital of Meghalaya. She stressed that this objective should be diligently pursued until achieved.

President of FKJGP George D Sangma reaffirmed his support for the movement advocating for Tura’s designation as the second capital of Meghalaya. He committed to organizing another public meeting in the Mangsang area in the near future to further advocate for this cause and to apply pressure on the governemnt to give it due consideration.
