Tura, Dec 2: As part of the Closing Ceremony of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Tura Diocese, five Deacons – Dn Anthony Marak SDB, Dn Thomas Ch Sangma, Dn Parciush R Marak SJ, Dn Martin A Sangma, and Dn Bromeo Ch Marak SDB were ordained to Priesthood by Most Reverend Bishop Andrew R Marak, Bishop of Tura. The ordination ceremony was held at Don Bosco School Playground, Chandmari, Tura.
The solemn ceremony witnessed over 110 priests participating in the Holy Eucharist, symbolizing solidarity and support for the newly ordained priests. Many devoted faithful from across Garo Hills and Shillong were present reflecting the significance and widespread impact of this event within the community.
Most Reverend Andrew R Marak, Bishop of Tura, in his homily expressed his gratitude to the parents and relatives who have dedicated their sons to priesthood for serving the people of the church. Reminding the duties and obligations of priesthood, he said that they have responded to the call of the Lord diligently and after being ordained as priest wherever they are they should proclaim the word of God to others adding that “what you do to the people you do for the Lord,” he said.
Further, he urged all the faithful to remember these new priests and all the priests in their prayers so that they can deepen their faith and guide others to become better Christians in future.
