Shillong, Oct 29: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today said that the government has decided to drop the idea to run the Tura Medical College on PPP mode.
“We will study different options on how we can make the college operational,” he said.
He informed that the decision was taken by the government as there were concerns and reactions raised by various organisations on the proposal to make the college operational with a private entity.

He explained that the government had proposed PPP mode to run the Tura Medical College based on constraint with regards to non-availability of professionals.
“We had proposed PPP mode as an option to start the medical college in Tura. However, as various organisation opposed the idea, we decided to take their views and suggestions. We shall further engaged with stakeholders and public and find out ways on how we can make the medical college operational”.
He also remarked that government is committed to ensure that Tura Medical College becomes a premier institute of excellence.
