Shillong, June 10: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge Urban Affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar on Monday said the government is yet to take a call on the proposal for relocation of 342 families of Harijan colony from Them Iew Mawlong.

“No, that we are yet to take a call. You will know very shortly,” Dhar told reporters.

On the relocation of hawkers, the deputy CM said that the department is in the process of relocating them.

“I just had a meeting last week on the matter. We are trying to do that at the earliest possible,” he said adding “My officers are on the job. We are in the process of identifying locations for relocating them, for example Laitumkhrah.”

In regards to measures taken for decongesting Shillong city, Dhar said that the department is coming up with more parking lots for reducing the traffic congestion.

“In the last few months, the cabinet has approved the policy on street parking, so that nobody can park (their vehicles) randomly on the roadside,” he said while informing that in few months from now, the department will be able to inaugurate few parking lots and this would to a great extent help in addressing the traffic problem in Shillong.
