Shillong, June 10: The Tour Guides Association of Meghalaya (TGAM) Monday demanded public apology from all the media channels that have misled the people and the world with their baseless allegations on Meghalaya.
In a statement the TGAM extends heartfelt congratulations to the Meghalaya Police, SDRF, NDRF, and all agencies and individuals involved in the diligent search, rescue, and investigation efforts to solve the recent case involving the missing couple on their honeymoon in Sohra.
“We strongly condemn the recent wave of misinformation and defamatory statements circulated by certain individuals and groups across India, who falsely portrayed Meghalaya as an unsafe destination. The unwarranted slogans such as “Meghalaya Murdabad” are now rightfully being replaced by “Meghalaya Zindabad,” as the truth and collective effort have come to light” it stated.
The TGAM urged the Government to take appropriate legal action against those responsible for spreading falsehoods and defaming the state and its people as these accusations were made without any understanding of the realities on the ground or the extensive efforts undertaken by all involved.
In its statement TGAM stated that Meghalaya is a land of peace, natural beauty, and warm hospitality. “We welcome all visitors with open arms and encourage them to engage with local guides and tourism service providers to ensure a meaningful and immersive experience” it stated.
