Shillong, June 9: Deputy Chief Minister in-charge urban affairs Sniawbhalang Dhar on Monday congratulated the Home (Police) department for cracking the recent murder case of a newlywed tourist from Indore Raja Raghuvanshi in Sohra by arresting those involved in the crime.

“I would like to thank the home department; they have done a tremendous job to get all these culprits. I would like to thank local people for extending their help to police, NDRF, SDRF during the search operation. Congratulations to the police for nabbing the culprits behind the case,” he said.

Dhar however said that the government will take action at an appropriate time against those involved in attacking the image of Meghalaya.

Meanwhile, the deputy CM also informed that the department has received requests from many localities for installation of close circuit televisions (CCTVs) to ensure safety and security of the citizens in Shillong agglomeration.

This was after the successful installation of over 335 CCTVs under the Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in and around Shillong city, Dhar told reporters.

The deputy CM said that there is a plan to expand the outreach of CCTV facilities in other parts of the state including Jowai and Tura.

“We are studying now based on the size of the area. It (demand for CCTVs) will be more,” he added.
