Guwahati, July 3: A 15-year-old girl died after falling from a residential building in Guwahati’s Beltola area on Thursday morning, police said.
The incident occurred at Ajanta Path under the jurisdiction of Hatigaon Police Station. The teenager, a Class 10 student of NPS International School, was found critically injured and rushed to a private hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Police said the student was in her school uniform at the time of the incident.
“We have recovered a note from the spot, which is being examined as part of the investigation,” a police official said.
Preliminary investigations suggest the teenager may have been under stress over her examination performance, although police said all angles are being investigated.

The incident has once again brought the spotlight on the growing mental health challenges faced by students and the pressures associated with academic performance.
A senior police officer noted that incidents involving student distress have become a matter of concern and stressed the need for greater emotional support and counselling for young people.
Mental health experts have repeatedly called for schools and parents to create supportive environments where children can speak openly about academic stress, anxiety and emotional difficulties.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
