Kohima, July 25: The Tsütuonuomia Students’ Union (TSU) on Saturday celebrated its 9th Annual Literary Day-cum-Felicitation Programme, recognising outstanding academic achievers and encouraging students to combine creativity with excellence under the theme “Imprints of Imagination.”

The event, held at the T. Khel Indoor Stadium in Kohima, brought together students, educators and community leaders for a day of literary competitions, cultural performances and an award ceremony honouring exceptional achievements in academics and competitive examinations.

Executive Engineer, PHED, Er. Sedevilie Suohu attended the inaugural session as the chief guest, while MLA for 9th Kohima Town, Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, graced the valedictory programme.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Rhutso said the theme reflected the aspirations of the younger generation and urged students to pursue their dreams with sincerity, perseverance and hard work.

He emphasised that education is not merely about memorising facts but about understanding concepts and applying knowledge meaningfully in everyday life. Stressing the importance of practical skills, he encouraged students to develop talents that could help build sustainable careers.

Quoting, “Start by doing what is necessary, then what is possible, and soon you will achieve the impossible,” he congratulated all the award recipients and urged them to continue striving for excellence.

Earlier, TSU president Mezhükhriezo Zatsu encouraged students to make meaningful contributions to society through dedication, discipline and continuous learning.

The highlight of the programme was the felicitation of students who excelled in board examinations, higher education and competitive recruitment tests.

The HSLC TSU Excellence Award (Lt. Er. Ruokuobezizo Solo Memorial Award) was presented to Neilhou Belho of Northfield School, Khikha, for securing a Top 7 rank in the HSLC examination.

The HSSLC Excellence Awards went to Keduoneinuo Evelyn of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School for outstanding performance in the Science stream, Mhalezhünuo Sekhose of Don Bosco Higher Secondary School for excellence in the Arts stream, and Vibeilie Vincent Solo of Model Higher Secondary School for his achievement in the Commerce stream.

The union also honoured Thejangunuo Suohu for winning a Gold Medal in Master of Nursing from RIMS, Imphal, Mezhülhoutounuo Suhu for securing a Gold Medal in M.Sc. Chemistry from Kohima Science College (Autonomous), Jotsoma, and Dr. Khrieketounuo Belho for earning a PhD from Nagaland University.

Recognition was also accorded to successful candidates in state recruitment examinations, including Medozhanuo Solo, appointed Medical Officer through the NPSC Combined Technical Services Examination, and Ketholetuo Solo and Vikerüse Suohu, who secured appointments as LDA-cum-Computer Assistants through the NSSB Combined Staff Recruitment Examination.

The programme also featured literary competitions, cultural performances and a special presentation by the Best Soloist before concluding with a vote of thanks by TSU General Secretary Keneipfhelie Phewhuo. The event reaffirmed the union’s commitment to promoting academic excellence, creativity and leadership among the youth.
