Hid Foundation Shillong organizes World Environment Day programme

Shillong, June 6: Hid Foundation Shillong, in collaboration with the Office of the Range Forest Officer (Social Forestry) Kyrdem Kulai Range, celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm at Lad Umroi Umiam and Seng Samla Shnong Khliehumstem under Bhoirymbong C&RD Block.

The programme was led by Seng Samla Shnong Khliehumstem, with its President Bah Elvis Teron, and saw active participation from village leaders, teachers, youths, and school students.

The event was graced by Shidalin Malai, Assistant Registrar of Mahatma Gandhi University of Meghalaya, as the Chief Guest.

The World Environment Day programme was followed by a tree plantation drive, emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation and sustainability. The event aimed to raise awareness about the significance of protecting the environment and promoting eco-friendly practices.

Shidalin Malai, in his address, highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and the role individuals can play in protecting the planet.

He also underscored the need for collective action to address environmental challenges and promote sustainable development.

Soniland Malai, Executive Coordinator of Hid Foundation Shillong, expressed gratitude to all participants, dignitaries, and organizers for making the event a success. He reiterated Hid Foundation Shillong’s commitment to environmental conservation and community development initiatives.
