Tura, July 18: ICFAI University Meghalaya has launched its first peer-reviewed multidisciplinary research journal, marking a significant milestone for the institution’s research ecosystem during a three-day national seminar on digital disruption in marketing.
The ICFAI Meghalaya Journal of Innovation, Management & Technology (IMJIMT) was unveiled at the university’s Tura campus as scholars, researchers and industry experts from across the country gathered to discuss the growing impact of artificial intelligence, digital technologies and sustainability on business.
The seminar, organised by the Department of Management in collaboration with IUP Publications, drew participants from more than a dozen states, including Meghalaya, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, West Bengal, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
The newly launched open-access journal aims to provide a platform for publishing research in management, technology, innovation and allied disciplines, making it the university’s maiden academic journal.
Vice-Chancellor Dr Alicia Gatphoh said the initiative reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening research and innovation, while Tura campus director Proley M. Sangma said the institution would continue to promote industry-academia collaboration and entrepreneurship.
The seminar featured discussions on artificial intelligence in marketing, fintech, digital banking, influencer marketing, sustainability, consumer behaviour and business innovation. AI and digital marketing expert Amudhakumar P.R., delivering the keynote address, highlighted how artificial intelligence is reshaping customer engagement and marketing strategies while calling for ethical adoption of the technology.

A notable feature of the seminar was the strong participation of students, who presented research on topics ranging from AI-driven marketing and influencer marketing to digital payments, online shopping behaviour and social media analytics.
The university also released the seminar’s abstract book containing research papers submitted by academicians and scholars from institutions across India.
Research papers were evaluated for originality, relevance and methodological rigour, with outstanding presentations receiving Best Paper and Best Oral Presentation awards across four technical sessions.
The seminar concluded with a call for greater interdisciplinary research and technology-driven solutions to emerging business challenges, reinforcing ICFAI Meghalaya’s growing focus on research-led academic excellence.
