Shillong, Dec 2: Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality firm, has announced the signing of a new Ginger hotel in Shillong, marking the brand’s entry into Meghalaya. The upcoming 90-key property is a greenfield development.
Ginger Shillong will feature the brand’s signature all-day diner Qmin, a stylish bar, meeting room and fitness centre, catering to both business and leisure travellers.
Often referred to as the Scotland of the East, Shillong blends colonial charm with vibrant Khasi culture and is known for its rolling hills, cool climate, and attractions such as Umiam Lake, Elephant Falls and the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival.
With this addition, IHCL’s portfolio in Meghalaya will expand to three hotels, including one under development.
The project is owned by Shillong-based real estate developer Mr. Khongsngi, who also serves as President of the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Institute (KHASI), an organisation dedicated to promoting Meghalaya’s traditional archery heritage.
