Despite the unfavorable weather conditions due to frequent rainfall in the hilly area, the restoration team completed the work by 2 PM on April 26, 2024. The affected portion of the track, spanning about 150 meters, was repaired through ballasting and packing to improve stability.

Given the derailment and the detected track settlement, the NFR has imposed temporary restrictions on train movement in the Jatinga Lampur and New Haflong section of the hill area. Trains will not be allowed to operate between 6 PM and 6 AM until further notice, leading to the cancellation and rescheduling of some services.

The Lumding-Badarpur hill section is a vital link not only for the entire South Assam region but also for the states of Tripura, Manipur, and Mizoram. The NFR authorities have assured that they are closely monitoring the entire hill section to ensure the safety of train operations.

The Indian Army played a crucial role in the restoration efforts. The team, led by Major Abhishek from the Silchar Unit, provided invaluable support. The army personnel worked tirelessly alongside the railway staff, removing derailed coaches, clearing the tracks, and transporting essential materials and equipment to the site. Their presence ensured the timely completion of the restoration work. It provided a sense of security to the railway staff working in the remote hill section.
