Tura, Sept 29: The Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) conducted a training program for LPG distributors, delivery personnel, and mechanics who regularly visit households in Tura, aimed at enhancing safety standards and preventing domestic LPG accidents.
The event was held on Saturday at Hotel Polo Orchid in Nazing Bazaar, Araimile.
The program was led by Chief General Manager Dinesh Prasad Vidyarthi (IOC, AOD), Shyamal Devnath, LPG Head (Sales, Guwahati Area Division), and Sajib Malakar, LPG Sales Officer (Bongaigaon-II Sales Area). Experts from the field provided hands-on training to ensure that participants gained essential safety knowledge.
As part of the event, Indian Oil launched the “Chhotu” 5 kg Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder, making it the first Public Sector Oil Company in India to introduce this model. The Chhotu cylinder is designed to cater to the migrant population in urban and semi-urban areas, people with lower gas consumption, and small commercial establishments. The cylinders will be available through a network of Indane distributorships, retail outlets, and other points of sale. Customers can purchase them with just an identity proof, and refills can be acquired nationwide.
During the event, officials emphasized the crucial role of mechanics and staff in the delivery process, describing them as the face of the company, interacting directly with customers in their homes. The training program was essential to empower mechanics with the necessary knowledge, who then will then train kitchen staff in safety measures during their visits.
