Jowai Municipal resumes collection of waste from Jowai Town

Must read

Jowai, Aug 4: After more than four months, the Jowai Municipal Board (JMB) on Wednesday resumed the collection of waste from Jowai Town.

It may be mentioned here that the Board had to stop the collection of waste after the Village Dorbars from 7 villages opposed the dumping of waste at Mynjakai along the Jowai Amlarem Dawki Road and since then the Board along with the JHADC has been searching for a new waste dumping site.

Due to the inability of the JMB to identify a new dumping ground, Jowai town had witnessed the piling up of waste at major junctions of the town and this had forced the Joint Action Committee of various NGOs from Jaiñtia Hills to approach the Government to find a solution at the earliest.
