KVK Jaiñtia Hills organises awareness on Climate Resilient Agriculture

Jowai, Sept 29: The office of Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Jaiñtia Hills on Wednesday held an awareness programme on ‘Climate Resilient Agriculture’ at Nongkynrih Village under Laskein Block.

The Chairman of this programme, Dr R. Suchiang, Subject Matter Specialist (AH & Vety) of KVK Jaiñtia Hills, highlighted the concepts of the programme. A bunch of such varieties with “special traits” is now being released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to create awareness for adoption of climate resilient technologies.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has released 35 crop varieties that have been boosted for climate resilience and to provide higher nutrient content that have been developed in 2021 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to address “the twin challenges of climate change and malnutrition”.

M. Kharbuli, Farm Manager, KVK Jaintia Hills delivered a lecture on Climate Resilient Agriculture. He also encouraged the farmers to take up climate resilient technologies and also to adopt different farm enterprises through integration for optimization of farm resources and for enhancing productivity.A.C. Pariat, Senior Fellow Research (SRF) under ARYA Project, KVK Jaiñtia Hills delivered a talk on the benefits of Mushroom Cultivation, its cultivation methods and value addition.F. Sutnga, Senior Fellow Research (SRF) under NICRA Project, KVK Jaiñtia Hills delivered a lecture on Different Climate Resilient which are feasible to be used in the farmer’s field.The programme was attended by the Farmers and Farm women besides the officials of the organizing department. A farmers Scientist interaction was also held alongside as part of the programme.
