Dibrugarh, June 11: A 29-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her rented residence in the Milan Nagar area of Assam’s Dibrugarh district on Thursday, prompting police to launch an investigation into the case.
The deceased, identified as Babita Das, a native of Sivasagar district, was found lying unconscious on a bed inside her rented accommodation, where she lived with her two young sons.
Family members rushed her to a hospital after discovering her condition, but doctors declared her dead.

“We found her lying on the bed and immediately took her to the hospital. The doctors declared her dead. She was living in the house with her two sons. Her husband works as a night-super driver. We do not know what exactly happened,” the woman’s elder sister said.
Police officials said the circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear and that all possible angles, including foul play, are being examined.
The deceased’s brother has lodged a formal complaint at the Milan Nagar Police Outpost, seeking a thorough investigation into the incident.
Investigators said it is too early to determine whether the death resulted from natural causes or a criminal act. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination, and the report is expected to provide crucial clues regarding the cause of death.
Further investigation is underway.
