Shillong, Nov 5: The daughter of Poonam Singh, who was allegedly stabbed by her husband recently, on Saturday alleged that the police are trying to convince her not to pursue further with the case.

Speaking to media persons, the daughter, who wished not to be named, narrated the incident. She said the horrific incident took place in the morning of October 31, 2023, when her mother asked money from her father for buying essential commodities at home.

The daughter informed that the Laban Police has not arrested the accused despite an FIR being lodged against Suresh P Singh, as he is the director of Shillong Golf Club. She alleged that this non action by the police against her father is because he has connections with those in power.

“My father stabbed my mother on 31st October after they were arguing about money; when I came down stairs, I saw my father kicking my mother and stabbing her,” alleged the daughter.

The daughter informed that the police have registered the case under the wrong section and they have tried to convince her not to go ahead with the case. “My father has been abusing my mother for quite a long time and I don’t want this case to be buried like the last case where my father hurt my mother’s hand where she had to get stitches,” she alleged.

She informed that her father started to abuse her mother right after marriage.

She further claimed that there had been a lot of FIRs before this incident as well, and had police acted strongly against him, the incident would not have occurred.
