Lamborghinis and Porsches to roar through Sikkim’s high-altitude frontiers in December Rally

Must read

Guwahati, Nov 21: Sikkim is gearing up for one of the region’s most spectacular automotive events—a high-altitude Super Car Rally that will send Lamborghinis, Porsches, and other luxury machines across some of India’s most dramatic frontier landscapes, including the historic Cho La and Natu La passes.

Senior officials from the Government of Sikkim and the Indian Army’s Black Cat Division under Trishakti Corps have reviewed preparations in Gangtok for the December 11–15 rally. The event is being organised by the Mumbai-based Super Car Route group as a completely self-funded, self-driven initiative designed to position Sikkim as one of India’s premier scenic driving destinations.

The Trishakti Corps is supporting the rally under Bharat Ranbhoomi Darshan, a Ministry of Defence initiative developed with the Ministry of Tourism to promote battlefield tourism. A key highlight along the route will be the 5,420-metre Cho La Pass, celebrated for its strategic role in the 1967 Indo-China clashes. With its raw alpine beauty and storied military legacy, Cho La is emerging as a major attraction for travellers seeking high-altitude history.

The rally will be flagged off from Sukna, West Bengal, before travelling through Siliguri, Gangtok, the Cho La Pass, Natu La, and the picturesque Gnathang–Zuluk stretch—showcasing Sikkim’s upgraded border road infrastructure and its dramatic mountain landscapes.

District Collector Tushar G Nikhare assured full administrative and logistical support during the meeting. Additional Political Secretary Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha recommended weaving key state government schemes into the rally’s digital promotions to expand reach and public awareness.

OSD to the Chief Minister, Rewaj Chettri, expressed gratitude to all stakeholders and said the rally would generate major visibility for Sikkim’s highways, border corridors, and emerging tourism potential.

The meeting was attended by SP Gangtok Mahendra Subba, senior government officials, and representatives from Trishakti Corps, SAMSA, and Brothers Association.

Organisers noted that each participant will fully fund their own participation, including bringing their own vehicles to Sikkim.
