Shillong, Aug 7: The Meghalaya Government, through the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL), has initiated land acquisition for the proposed four-lane Greenfield Alignment (High-Speed Corridor) in East Khasi Hills district.
According to an official notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner on Wednesday, the alignment will pass through seven villages: Mawsiatkhnam, Lumkseh, Lumdiensai, Nonghali, Mawpdang (Mawkhanu), Diengpasoh (Jaroit), and Mawryngkneng (Mawiong Sung).
The district administration has urged residents to refrain from undertaking new construction or development in the identified areas without prior approval from the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
The notice further states that no compensation will be granted for any unauthorised structures—temporary or permanent—erected within the designated right of way (ROW) after the issuance of this public notice, covering both residential and commercial properties.
The directive takes immediate effect, with authorities warning that violations may result in forfeiture of compensation during the land acquisition and project implementation.
