Talking to reporters, he said, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had sent the Special Director of CBI along with some senior officers to Manipur and today with the support of the Indian Army, Paramilitary forces, Assam Rifles and State Police, we have arrested 4 accused from Churachandpur in this case. This is a huge achievement. I want to thank NIA, CBI and all Central forces…”
This development comes after a disturbing picture of the victims went viral on social media after the Internet was restored in the valley.
The four individuals under arrest include two men and two women, while the other two detained are female. All six suspects are believed to have played a major role in the deaths of the two students.
The arrest was made following a joint operation conducted by the police and the army that led to the capture of these suspects in Churachandpur.
According to reports, the two students had gone missing in July.
The ethnic violence started in Manipur on May 3, contributing to the complexity of the case.
