Imphal, July 26: Manipur Government has announced to appoint Olympic Silver Medalist Saikhom Mirabai Chanu as Additional Superintendent of Police (Sports) in Police department.

This was announced by Manipur Chief Minister, N. Biren Singh on Monday during the inspection of ongoing installation of Cryogenic Oxygen Plant at Porompat and construction of COVID hospital by DRDO at Kyamgei.

He also announced reward of Rs. 1 crore for Chanu.

He further announced promotion for Olympian Judoka Likmabam Sushila Devi. She would be promoted from the post of Constable to Sub-Inspector.

In addition, he said all the Olympics participants would be given Rs. 25 lakh each.
Manipur government has also decided to establish a world class Weightlifting Academy in the State soon.
