Tura, March 14: In a show of solidarity and collective hope for stability in the region, residents of Williamnagar came together for a mass prayer meeting for peace in Garo Hills at the Williamnagar Main Market on the evening of March 13.

The gathering drew participation from various community organisations, senior citizens, pastors, priests, members of the district administration, and the local business community, including merchants from the Williamnagar market area.

People from different walks of life joined the programme to offer prayers seeking peace, healing, and harmony for the people of Garo Hills, amid concerns over maintaining calm and unity in the region.

Speakers and participants emphasised the need for collective responsibility in preserving peace and social harmony, noting that communities must work together to ensure stability and mutual respect.
Organisers said the prayer meeting aimed to invoke divine guidance for lasting peace while strengthening the spirit of togetherness among the people of Garo Hills.

They highlighted that the event was conducted in a non-political manner, focusing solely on community unity beyond differences of caste, creed, colour, or social status.
Participants also reflected on the importance of dialogue, compassion, and understanding in fostering long-term harmony in the region.

The gathering concluded with a collective appeal for continued cooperation among communities to ensure that peace and stability prevail across Garo Hills.
