Shillong, July 16: All the coalition partners of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) have come to an agreement over the government’s decision to go ahead with the independent inquiries into the alleged irregularities in the power department, especially the MeECL and Saubhagya scheme.

All the coalition partners have decided to wait for the reports of the independent inquiry committee before discussing and pursing the issues of power department further.

This was decided in the meeting called by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma of all the presidents of the MDA coalition partners on Friday.

The meeting dwelt on issues like Power, Assam Meghalaya interstate boundary row, Social Welfare among other issues.

Talking to pressmen, BJP State Chief, Ernest Mawrie said that he is happy and contended with the outcome of the meeting. On the issue of power, he said that they have decided to wait for the inquiry report.

Echoing similar sentiments, HSPDP Chief, KP Pangniang said that the discussions dwelt a lot on the Assam-Meghalaya border dispute beside other issues. He said that he stands satisfied with the discussions and has decided to wait for the report of the independent inquiry as well on the power issue.
