Shillong, Oct 15: The state Cabinet has approved the regularization of over 1,000 nurses who were appointed on an ad-hoc basis against sanctioned posts before December 2007.
After chairing the meeting on Wednesday, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma said, “(We have approved) regularization of the cadres under the Meghalaya Nursing Service Appointment to the post of staff nurse and auxiliary nurse and midwife.”
He informed that the government in 2022 had also regularized over 3000 employees appointed on adhoc basis against sanctioned posts before December 2007 based on a Supreme Court’s ruling.

Later on, a list of more people who were eligible and falling in that category were again brought to the cabinet and they were also regularized.
“Similarly, today the health department had brought a list of close to 1000 nurses who are also in that same category who have been appointed before December 2007 and was against sanctioned posts but done in an adhoc manner. Hence, following the same yardstick and the same rules that were applicable to the other employees appointed in that manner, the cabinet today has decided that we will regularize those who were appointed on adhoc basis against sanctioned posts before December 2007,” he added.
