Shillong, Sept 7: Amid the protests carried out by farmers in Haryana, Meghalaya Governor Satya Pal Malik has slammed the Central Government’s attitude towards farmers and said that he knows the plight of farmers.

Speaking to a group of media persons, Malik said people should know that he comes from a farming background.

“I was born in a farmer’s family and have done farming in my young days because my father died when I was only two-years-old. So, I know their plight and I agree with their demands,” expressed the Governor.

He also stated that he did not agree with the Central Government’s attitude towards the farmers.

“I have spoken to the Prime Minister and Home Minister and have asserted that they should resolve it because very large number of farming community is alienated from them. BJP leaders cannot enter the villages in Haryana, UP and Punjab so this is not a good situation and should be resolved,” Malik shared.

The Governor also claimed that there are certain people who don’t want this to be resolved and are harming the central government.

Malik made headlines recently when he slammed Haryana Chief Minister, ML Khattar and demanded him to apologise for the ‘lathi charge’ in Karnal leaving 10 people injured. During his interview with NDTV, he was also seen making a statement that he wasn’t in love with his post as a Governor.

Malik has always been one of the Governors who has always backed the farmers and has always been very vocal on many issues.
