Tura, July 10: As floods continue to affect parts of South West Garo Hills, the Meghalaya Health Department has intensified efforts to ensure uninterrupted healthcare services in the affected areas.
Senior Medical and Health Officer of Mahendraganj Community Health Centre, Dr N.A. Khan, on Thursday visited the Ghegapara Urban Health and Wellness Centre (UH&WC) and other flood-hit locations under its jurisdiction to assess the ground situation and review the delivery of essential health services.
During the visit, Dr. Khan evaluated the healthcare needs of flood-affected communities, inspected the preparedness of health facilities, and reviewed the availability of medicines, essential supplies, and disease surveillance measures to prevent outbreaks in the aftermath of flooding.

Officials said the field assessment was aimed at ensuring uninterrupted access to healthcare for vulnerable populations and strengthening the district’s emergency response mechanism.
The department reiterated its commitment to maintaining medical services and safeguarding public health as flood conditions persist.
