Guwahati, July 10: Nagaland Tourism and Higher Education Minister Temjen Imna Along has put the spotlight on Tripura’s scenic Dumboor Lake, describing it as “48 islands. One unforgettable destination.”

In a post on X, Along highlighted the freshwater lake’s unique appeal, calling attention to its cluster of 48 picturesque islands, tranquil waters and pristine natural beauty.

“48 islands. One unforgettable destination. 📍 Dumboor Lake, Tripura. Renowned for its cluster of picturesque islands, tranquil waters, and breathtaking natural beauty, Dumboor Lake is one of Northeast India’s most captivating freshwater destinations,” he wrote.

The post is being seen as another effort to promote tourism destinations across the Northeast beyond state boundaries, with Along frequently using his social media platform to showcase the region’s rich natural and cultural heritage.

Located in Tripura’s Gomati district, about 120 km from Agartala, Dumboor Lake is one of the state’s best-known tourist attractions. Formed by the confluence of the Raima and Sarma rivers, the lake is dotted with dozens of small islands and is popular for boating, birdwatching and eco-tourism.

The lake also holds religious significance as the venue for the annual Pous Sankranti Mela, which attracts thousands of pilgrims and visitors every year.

With growing interest in experiential and nature-based tourism, destinations such as Dumboor Lake are increasingly being projected as key attractions in the Northeast’s tourism circuit.
