Shillong, Mar 31: The Meghalaya Sport Climbing and Mountaineering Association (MeSCMA) has nominated B Kyrmenskhem Lyngdoh of Upper Lumparing to attend the Basic Mountaineering Course (BMC) at the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (HMI), Darjeeling, from April 1-28, 2026.
The nomination is in recognition of Lyngdoh’s outstanding performance in the National and Zonal Championships, said MeSCMA.
“Preference for this prestigious course is given to members of the Association who won medals in the National and Zonal Championships, recognizing their performance and potential in the field of Sport Climbing and mountaineering,” the association stated.
The training is being sponsored by the Office of the Director, Directorate General of Assam Rifles.
“The BMC is a foundational program designed to introduce both men and women to the discipline of mountaineering,” MeSCMA said.
The course aims to teach fundamental techniques of movement on rock, snow, and ice, and provide theoretical and practical knowledge of mountaineering and allied subjects.
“We extend our best wishes to Kyrmenskhem for a successful training and future achievements in mountaineering,” MeSCMA said in a statement.
