Shillong, Mar 31: The opposition in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) has welcomed the decision of the executive committee (EC) to constitute a special committee to oversee the proposed amendment of the AD Rules.
Leader of Opposition in the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) Titosstarwell Chyne expressed optimism that the move will expedite the process.
Following a meeting with Chief Executive Member (CEM) Winston Tony Lyngdoh on Tuesday, Chyne said the CEM has assured that the special committee will comprise members from the opposition, officers, and executive members.
“The CEM has assured that there will be a special committee which will be consisting members from the opposition, officers and executive members,” Chyne said.
The committee is expected to be formed by next week and will deliberate on amendments to Rule 128 and other important aspects of the AD Rules.
“They will constitute the special committee by next week and this special committee will sit and discuss thoroughly regarding the amendment of the AD Rules with regards to Rule 128 and other important aspects which needs to be amended at the earliest,” Chyne said.
Chyne expressed hope that the formation of the special committee will lead to the timely amendment of the AD Rules, as expected by the people.
“We do hope by forming the special committee, we will be able to have our amendment at the earliest as expected by the people,” he said.
