Yadav to file nomination

Guwahati: The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Wednesday declared that its president Akhilesh Yadav will contest the 2024 Lok Sabha election from the Kannauj constituency in Uttar Pradesh. Yadav will file his nomination on April 25 (Thursday).

Guwahati: Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh, currently lodged in Dibrugarh jail in Assam under the National Security Act, will contest parliamentary elections from Punjab’s Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat. Amritpal’s counsel Rajdev Singh Khalsa said that he would contest as an Independent candidate from the Khadoor Sahib seat.

Guwahati:Maintaining that it can’t control elections, the Supreme Court on Wednesday wondered if it can issue an order on petition seeking 100 per cent cross-verification of votes cast using EVMs with VVPAT merely on the basis of suspicion.
