Kohima, July 15: Nagaland celebrated World Youth Skills Day 2026 by honouring 15 young achievers for excellence in diverse skill domains, underscoring the state’s push to promote skill-based careers and entrepreneurship.
The programme, themed “Harnessing Skills & Celebrating Success,” was held at the Capital Convention Centre in Kohima and organised by the state government through the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).
Advisor for Higher & Technical Education and Transport, Temjenmenba, felicitated the awardees in recognition of their outstanding achievements and contributions in their respective fields.
Interacting with the awardees, the Advisor urged them to continue striving for excellence and inspire more young people to pursue skill-based professions, describing skilled youth as vital to the state’s future development.
Officials at the event highlighted that skill development is central to creating employment opportunities, fostering entrepreneurship and building a self-reliant Nagaland. They stressed the need to equip young people with industry-relevant skills to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving economy.
Observed globally on July 15, World Youth Skills Day recognises the importance of empowering young people with the skills needed for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship, while encouraging governments and institutions to invest in skill development.
