SHILLONG, APR 9: The construction of the dam for the New Shillong Water Supply Scheme will be completed by next year.
Informing this on Thursday, Public Health Engineering (PHE) Minister Marcuise N Marak said, “I have gone to see the dam site, the work is going on 24×7, and we are hoping to complete this dam by next year.”
He added that other components of the project are also moving forward swiftly.
The Minister noted that land acquisition issues had previously delayed the project, but these have now been resolved, allowing work to proceed in full swing.
On the Tura Water Supply Scheme, Marak said objections over the dam construction site had been resolved, paving the way for work to start soon.
“There were certain issues where the dam was to be constructed, but there was some objection. Now it is resolved, and work will be starting very soon,” he said.
