SHILLONG, APR 8: Meghalaya cabinet minister and BJP leader Sanbor Shullai on Wednesday exuded confidence that the BJP would retain power in Assam, stating that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma would continue for another term.
“BJP will again retain power in Assam and Himanta Biswa Sarma ji will again continue as chief minister of Assam. That is no doubt,” Shullai said while speaking on the Assam Assembly election.
Dismissing concerns over anti-incumbency affecting the party’s performance, Shullai said, “There is no anti-incumbency in Assam.”
Pointing to the turnout at campaign rallies, he added, “Based on the information and campaigning and support of the people everywhere, Himanta Biswa Sarma and party leaders from Delhi wherever they are campaigning, you will see lakhs and lakhs of people are coming. So that means they are attending the rallies because they have decided to support the BJP.”
