Shillong, Sept 15: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma has expressed deep anguish over the tragic death of four-year-old Insaphira Lyngdoh Mawnai, who went missing from her residence in Nongrah early Sunday morning and was later found dead under suspicious circumstances.

The child’s body was recovered on Monday, with preliminary findings pointing to a suspected homicide.
Taking serious note of the case, the Chief Minister directed the Meghalaya Police to thoroughly investigate the matter and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice without delay.
“I extend my deepest condolences to her parents and her loved ones,” Sangma said in a post on X, as shock and grief continue to grip the locality.

It maybe mentioned, the body of the child was recovered inside an under-construction house in the locality. Disturbingly, a rock had been placed on her body to submerge it in a small waterlogged pit formed by rainwater.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem and his team are at the spot to investigate the matter.
