Shillong, April 29: In another turn of even on the MoU signed between Meghalaya and Assam governments to resolve the six areas of difference, 11 MDCs of National People’s Party (NPP) in Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) have unanimously decided to support the MoU signed between the two governments.
The 11 MDCs have rejected the move of the KHADC to file the case in the court against the MoU and on Friday a letter has been sent to the Chief Executive Member of the KHADC in this regard.
“We (NPP MDCs) have unanimously decided that we are not part of the move by sections within the KHADC to file any case on this issue in any Court of Law. The Press Statement given by the Vice-Chairman of the Border Committee Shri Jambor War was wrong. This is because the decision taken in the meeting was not that the Council will appeal in the Court, but it was left to the Himas and the private parties to appeal in the Court if deemed fit,” said the letter submitted to KHADC CEM Titos Chyne.
Chairman of the parliamentary party of the NPP MDCs, Gigur Myrthong said that the decision of the last meeting was to leave it to the traditional heads to move the court if they wish.
Six NPP MDCs are part of the Executive Commitee of the KHADC.
Notably on April 26, the Border Committee of KHADC decided to move the Court on the Assam – Meghalaya border issue.
