Guwahati, April 6:The Assam unit of CPI(M) has alleged that the BJP has violated the Model Code of Conduct. The CM had announced the socio-economic survey after the election code of conduct came into force.
Addressing a Press Conference on Saturday at Party’s State Office, in Guwahati the opposition accused the ruling BJP for tempting the voters, and violating the Model Code of Conduct.
The CPI(M) has issued a notice to Bhavesh Kalita, who is state president of BJP to show cause. CPI (M) Assam state president Suprakash Talukdar said that “we demand the Election Commission to take action against the Chief Minister of Assam.
He stated that ,”in the complaint to the Election Commission, they stated that “the Chief Minister is directly involved in the system and should face the consequences of the action”.
Distribution of specific survey forms and data collection during elections is unethical and is the violation of the Model Code of Conduct he further stated.
He urged, the Election Commission to take action and put a ban on such activities.
